CARBSE Facility, CEPT University

CARBSE (previously called as Building Energy Performance Laboratory (BEPL)) was established as a collaborative effort of CEPT University and Glazing Society of India for the research and testing of glass, glazing products and its associated materials for Energy performance. CARBSE is supported by Indian Glass and Glazing Industry, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, Department of Science and Technology - Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) - CBERD, Gujarat Energy Development Agency, US Agency for International Development and iNDEXTb (Industrial Extension Bureau) Government Gujarat. CARBSE has obtained the NABL Accreditation for testing and Certificate by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory awarding CEPT University as regional data collection and review center for the International Glazing Database (IGDB).

The facility in-houses the capacity for research and testing of the following glass, glazing products and its associated materials as per Indian and International Standards.

  • Characterization of Glass - Thermo-Physical-Optical Properties
  • Simulation for Energy Performance of Coated Glass
  • Thermal Conductivity to derive R value and U Value
  • Thermal diffusivity and Specific heat
  • Air Leakage of Fenestration Products like Windows and Doors
  • Reflectivity of thermal mirrors (Curved Surfaces)
  • U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficients of fenestration products like Windows, Doors, etc
  • Daylighting Analysis
  • Post Occupancy Evaluation of Building for their environment and energy performance.
  • Performance evaluation of various materials and products on the energy demand of building.
