Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science & Energy (CARBSE)

The Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science & Energy (CARBSE) at Ahmedabad is the energy performance testing and certification facility. It is a unique collaboration between the GSI and Centre for Environment and Planning Technology (CEPT) University and supported by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Resources (MNRE) and USAID. Established in September 2009, CARBSE is the first-of-its-kind facility for testing building envelopes for Energy Performance in India. CARBSE, CEPT University is NABL accredited and has obtained Round Robin Certification from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), USA.

GSI Product Performance Certification Programme 1.0 (GSI PPCP 1.0)

This programme confers the Third Party Certification of Glass and Glazing products for Energy Performance based on the testing done at CARBSE, CEPT University. The energy performance parameters that are tested under GSI PPCP 1.0, include U Value, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient, Visible Light Transmittance, Emissivity, Internal and External Reflection Properties among others.
